July Nanaimo Fishing Charters Report

Phenomenal fishing! Through June, we have seen some of the best salmon fishing you can experience at this time of year. The numbers of coho salmon around are staggering and the sizes are already decent for this time of year. Some schools of fish are so thick you can barely keep your line down for more than a minute when the bite is on. Lots of double headers and limits have been had on our Nanaimo fishing charters over the last 2-3 weeks. We have been catching Chinook as well but because they are catch and release still, we have been more targeting coho. We did receive good news today that fisheries will be opening Chinook come July 15th, so it will be even better to be able to keep coho and chinook. While the fishing does change day to day, we are hoping these large schools of coho will stick around and be joined by the summer runs of chinook, which could make for one of the best summers and falls of saltwater fishing here in Nanaimo on Vancouver island.
