August Nanaimo Fishing Charters Report

August has seen some great salmon fishing in the waters off Nanaimo. While the coho fishing has been more spotty than previous years, the chinook fishing has continued to be great. On our latest Nanaimo fishing charters we’ve been finding good amounts of slot sized fish 8-15lbs with a fair amount of oversized ones in the mix as well. Currently the maximum size to keep for chinook is 80cm, but with September 1st just around the corner we usually see that max size lifted. September can bring waves of local spawning salmon that can be up to 25 or more pounds. The salmon runs do start to head to the rivers throughout September so the fish tend to be on the move and can be around one day and moved on the next. With the great chinook fishing we’ve seen so far this summer season, we expect our September Nanaimo fishing charters to have good opportunities to hook into some nice sized fish! Join us for some late summer and fall fishing.
