August is here, and with it comes the exciting arrival of some of the bigger Salmon in our waters! As the summer months progress, the water temperatures rise, creating optimal conditions for various species to thrive and grow. This is the time when anglers eagerly anticipate the chance to reel in larger catches, as many fish species are reaching their peak sizes and weights. On our latest Nanaimo fishing charters, we are seeing some bigger Chinook Salmon around but they moving around a lot, so one day we may find some good schools and the next day they may have moved on. The coho fishing has remained good with decent numbers of hatchery fish still in the waters around Nanaimo. We are starting to get later into the season when hopefully we will see more local fish ie larger fish staging up before heading up river. August like July has been a busy one for our Nanaimo fishing charters but we do still have some openings in late August and September. September can be a great time for a fishing trip, with less boats on the water, more mature and larger fish around and more mild temperatures.
