It’s August already and the bigger spring salmon are starting to show up on our latest Nanaimo fishing charters on Vancouver Island. We’ve been getting some nice springs(chinook, kings) that have been 20-25 pounds and some nice slot size springs in the 10-15 pound range. Our August fishing charters Nanaimo are still getting into a decent amount of coho salmon as well, with a fair amount being unclipped with some clipped or hatchery ones in the mix. Some of these coho are now getting to the size of legal chinook and they are a blast on the line, head shakes and short runs, often being mistaken for springs and hard to keep on the line. As we get further into August with our Nanaimo fishing charters, the fishing is changing day to day, with a lot of the fish on the move from one tide and day to the next. We should also start to see more local runs move into the area over the next few weeks.
