Nanaimo Fishing Report 3/19/16

Salmon Fishing in Nanaimo is still fairly slow these days, although there have still been some good fish hitting the docks. Most of the springs caught are small and under the minimum size for retention. Small glow coyote spoons and glow flashers fished down deep have been the most productive for Nanaimo fishing. If you were looking for herring to catch there has been a massive herring spawn in Nanaimo this year, with boats and shore fisherman catching as many as they could carry. In Hammond bay and Departure bay the water was litterly boiling with herring. With such a massive spawn that can only mean good things for the Nanaimo salmon fishing season this year!

Best of luck out there!

Capt. Blake
