The hot fishing off Nanaimo that we have seen over the last number of weeks doing fishing charters has slowed some but the fishing is still good and we are getting multiple fish every trip out. Some bigger sized fish up to 20 pounds have been showing up too in the waters off Nanaimo. We have been finding the fish a little closer in over the last few fishing charters Nanaimo. Lots of boats are still fishing out far in the 900+ feet area as well as the spoil grounds. Most of the chinook salmon have been caught around 160 ft down with some around 145. Just a reminder that bottom fishing should be opening for lingcod and rockfish on May 1st. With no fishing pressure over the last 6 months the bottom fishing should be great right from the start on our Nanaimo fishing charters.
