Over the last 2 weeks we have been busy doing fishing charters. While the fishing is better some days than others, we are still getting into fish every fishing charters in Nanaimo. While alot of the chinooks we have been catching have been under the legal size limit to keep, there are still some good sized ones around. We lost a few big ones, probably close to 20 lbs or more on our fishing charter just yesterday. Right now in the local waters of Nanaimo, we have had most of the early season runs pass through. Now we are waiting for the summer resident chinooks to come through that should hold bigger fish up to 30 pounds. They could come in at any time but in the meantime there are still good fish to be had out there! The best depths we have been getting the fish at have been 135-155. Needlefish hootchies and skinny g spoons have been the ticket lately. We were also treated on one of our last fishing charters to an awesome Orca show, at least 7 in the pod with 2 young babies as well. Lots of tail slapping, fin slapping and even a number of full breaches. Hopefully my guests caught alot of that on camera because I didnt unfortunately :( Just goes to show you anything can happen when you come out on a fishing charter Nanaimo with Unreel Charters!
Make it an Unreel Day!
