The great Chinook fishing we experienced in April and May has continued on our latest Nanaimo fishing charters. Lots of fish to the boat on every trip right now. The numbers have decreased slightly lately as they usually due this time of year for our fishing charters in Nanaimo, as the early season runs pass through to make way for the summer chinook runs. But we are still seeing great numbers on all our trips. Unfortunately it is still catch and release for chinook till July 15th. But lots of fun is still to be had with these strong fighting and good sized early season fish. Sizes are averaging in the 6-15 pound range with some in the high teens. Coho Is now open for retention as of June 1st. We have been seeing fairly spotty coho fishing, with some days getting into decent numbers and the next only a few. Hopefully we start to see some good numbers coming into the area over the next few weeks. Previous seasons we have had phenomenal coho fishing so we are hoping it continues this season.
